We offer Day and Weekend Classes for beginners to get a fast track on using their camera, getting you familiar with camera, settings, light variables and composition. You will get handouts, discussions, charts and private classes. We also give you assignments so we can see how you are progressing. and give you guidance on composition, exposure and answer questions in the second class and third.
We recommend two classes and offer a third class to help with the computer and helping you develop a workflow. In digital imaging the computer plays a big role. These classes are cost effective and will get you shooting, for sure! If you just want to dive in on the basics and this is a great start!
Beginning Courses as Classes Workshops or Coaching
Beginners Classes
We offer Day and Weekend workshops for beginners to get a fast track on using their camera, getting you familiar with camera, settings, light variables and composition. You will get handouts, discussions, charts and tutoring for the day. We will have hands on shooting and have a demonstration for computer processing.
If you do the two day workshops we will go out and shoot together on the second morning and then work on the images we shot and work on the computer, processing the images we shot and show you a workflow on the computer that will help you organize and process your images. If you want to spend a weekend at photography this is a great option.
We offer One on one photo Coaching for beginners to get a detailed view of photography and their cameras and gear. We do everything in the other mentioned boxes... However, we take more time with you. Coaching is done in sessions and we offer Beginners coaching in 5 Sessions or more. We give homework, and have phone calls for questions outside of your sessions.
We will have classes and will work on the camera initially, composition, exposure, white balance, and then we will go out and shoot together, It's great to have a pro over your shoulder helping to understand. We will work on the computer, processing the images we shot and show you a workflow that will help you organize and process your images and add some creativity in the mix. If you are thinking of Photography as a career path this could be the best way to go.

We offer Beginning Photography Courses. There is so much to learn about photograph. Technology changes so fast that we have to keep up with the latest cameras, trends gear, lenses, accessories... Watching You Tube can get confusing because the e is not one to ask or tell you what you are doing right or wrong. Guidance and the help form a pro Like Vicki Stanwycks will get you on the right track and help you build a good foundation in Photography.
We have classroom sessions, location shooting sessions with Vicki over you shoulder explaining the nuts and bolts of techniques as you shoot. "When you do this you get that," "...and when you don't do this - this will happen..." and then there is composition... there is nothing like hands on learning from a pro!
We begin with (depending on your course)
Understanding your camera is vital to make great images... Buttons, Menus, Numbers, dials... it's all foreign. We think of it as learning new language - because it is. We try to build a good foundation for you before you start to shoot.
Then we get into shooting modes, menus, and light - exposure - very important. If you took the Class Plus or a weekend workshop we work on the computer showing a workflow that is beneficial to digital imaging. We take time images you have created in your assignments and then critique and answer questions. Whatever your path with Vicki it's a full and well worth it if you want to get a better understanding of photography.

Photographing People

People Photography
We offer Workshops for Shooting People - Headshots, Portraits, Executives, Talent vs Lifestyle Portraits, Graduation, Couples and Weddings. Where do you fit in and what do you want your style to be? Each genre requires a different style and technique depending on the usage of the images for the perspective subject.
We have discussions, class, and shoot on-location with a subject so you can have hands on experience creating images that focus on different shooting techniques outside on-location for working with people. You also have to know how to pose and talk to your subject, very important to make your subjects feel at ease. Backgrounds, light and sun are also covered.
We also discuss gear, what you need and don't need, how to acquire what you need on a budget and packing for your photo shoot. We try to keep everything simple so you are more focused on the subject vs your equipment.
If you want to get more knowledge about studio shooting or lighting that is more on the coaching side as it's more in depth and requires a few sessions.
As photographer's we create images for the aspiring model. and many subjects. As pros we are supposed to know what looks good and doesn't and make it happen for our subjects. Vicki Stanwycks personally coaches and works with you to help you create your images, and if you want coaching over a few sessions we will work at helping your portfolio and self promotional materials.

Traveling anywhere and overseas gives a photographer a tremendous image pool if they take advantage of seeing what is there and how to take advantage of it by shooting at optimum times and finding the best vantage points.

How the Classes Work
Many have come to see us prior to the their trips abroad to learn how to shoot all of the afore mentioned techniques so their travel experience will be lighter. We offer three classes for Travel Photography. We go over the basics of your camera and gear and recommend what you might consider for your trips based on what you have. You might be in the middle of nowhere and we want you to be prepared. We get you prepared to travel and shoot on the fly to create a memorable story in Pictures.
Creative Photography
We discuss motivations, several rules of composition, color, Black and white, gear, tripods, lenses, digital darkroom must haves, and the pros and cons of too much or too little with regards to gear and with the computer.
This is a fun workshop where we learn and create images that are print worthy for art, decoration, or social media. Techniques learned in this workshop will prove more than useful for as long as you shoot....

Understanding Exposure
Light and Shadow are the basis for creating images with any camera, we explore the characteristics of each in depth. It could change the way you see and how you shoot. We go over aspects of light and teach you how to get a good exposure in all kinds of light and weather. Controls on your camera effect how the camera sees your image. We will go in-depth about light, color balance and techniques

Timeless images of Black and White create a visual sophistication that commands attention. Black and white images capture our attention because color must be imagined on a subliminal level.
